In the FEBRUARY 2025 EDITION OF GET MENTORED BY SUBHASHINI RAMSINGH, students will learn to create a stunning structural mushroom cake from scratch, using minimal tools and materials. They will learn how to make the entire structure from scratch, transforming simple components into a gravity-defying masterpiece. From shaping the stem with rice krispy treats to building the mushroom head with layered cakes, students will gain hands-on experience in carving, assembling, and detailing their creation.
This lesson focuses on the finer aspects of edible artistry, including applying wafer paper textures, crafting a unique microwave sponge for mushroom rings, and creating eye-catching hard sugar candy coral to elevate the final look.
Decorating Techniques:
1. Base Support: Set up a reliable base to securely hold the cake’s weight.
2. Bending Rods:Master bending threaded rods to form a strong, angled framework for your cake.
3. Sculpting the Stem: Shape a realistic mushroom stem using rice krispy treats.
