If you are a baker who is struggling to get into cake decorating, then this is the level you need to start with. In this 2-day course, you will learn to bake the sponges that are used with whipped cream and buttercream cakes. You will learn two different mediums of cake decorating in this class: whipped cream and buttercream.

You will use the cakes that you baked in the class to learn sharp edges in both mediums—whipped cream on one cake and buttercream on another cake. After completing the sharp edges, you will learn how to decorate both cakes and take home both fully decorated cakes that you have made in the class.

What you will learn in this class:

  1. Bake a light and airy vanilla sponge to use with whipped cream.
  2. Bake a vanilla butter cake to use with buttercream.
  3. Whip whipping cream to the right consistency ideal for frosting cakes.
  4. Make buttercream that is most suitable for our palate.
  5. Layer both the whipped cream and buttercream cakes.
  6. Frost the whipped cream cake with whipped cream and achieve sharp edges.
  7. Frost the buttercream cake with buttercream and achieve sharp edges. Decorate the whipped cream cake with chocolate drip and rosettes.
  8. Decorate the buttercream cake with neat and colorful piping

After you finish making both cakes in class, you will take them home. In addition to the cakes made in class, you will receive an additional recipe PDF which includes:

  • Light and airy chocolate sponge
  • Chocolate butter sponge
  • Caramel cake
  • Red velvet cake
  • Butterscotch cake
  • Almond cake
